News from Karlsruhe

Joseph Scanlon and Anne Bayley are hearing lots of useful and inspirational information at the “International Greening Education” conference in Karlsruhe, Germany. A head zoologist from the local zoo gave a moving overview of the polar bear situation – will we let them go extinct in the wild as the sea ice melts? – or turn around our carbon-intensive economies to preserve the polar habitat? Back to school, and keeping much too cool…

Facilities director Mike Breen said he had to turn off the AC in several upper school classrooms today – maybe we should designate “Turn it off” students for each class? What about you, what’s your big concern? Or better yet, what’s your big solution?
